A chaplain, or any priest, is not required to celebrate Mass every Sunday; instead, they are encouraged to celebrate Mass frequently. While the ideal is daily celebration, the frequency of Masses a chaplain can offer depends on various factors, including the chapel’s schedule, the chaplain’s other duties, and the needs of the community they serve.

Reasons for Not Celebrating Every Sunday

Chaplain’s Role: Chaplains often serve in unique settings, such as military bases, hospitals, or prisons, which may have different structures and scheduling needs compared to a typical parish.

Other Responsibilities: A chaplain may have other pastoral duties, administrative tasks, or pastoral care commitments that take precedence on certain Sundays.

Logistical Challenges: There might be logistical issues with accessing chapels, coordinating with other staff, or providing adequate resources for Mass celebration.

Community Needs: The size and composition of the chaplain’s community may influence the number of Masses held; some communities may not require daily or multiple Sunday Masses.

Principal Function: Celebrating the Eucharist is considered the principal function of a priest, and the Church believes it is an act of Christ and the Church.

I DO NOT OWN ANY CHASUBLRE

If I am invited to worship in another church, or chapel or any place that has more than one priest, I have to borrow one as they keep a wide variety of all liturgical colours and sizes.
