We are a Non-Masonic Templar group, calling ourselves spiritual successors or “inspired” orders, that are distinct from Freemasonry, focusing on Christian chivalry, charity, and heritage, with some tracing roots back centuries but clarifying we aren’t the historical medieval order, nor linked to Masonic branches.
Key Characteristics Templars:
- Christian Focus: Primarily Christian (Catholic, Protestant, Orthodox), aiming to live by Christ’s teachings, often ecumenical (see In Full Communion)
- Non-Political: Emphasize spiritual and chivalric ideals, not politics.
- Chivalric & Charitable: Dedicated to virtues, honor, and community/philanthropic work.
- No Masonic Link: Explicitly state that we are not affiliated with Freemasonry.
The most authentic non-Masonic Templar symbols are the Red Cross Pattée (martyrdom/faith) and the iconic Two Knights on One Horse Seal (poverty/brotherhood). Other key historical symbols include the White Mantle (purity), various crosses (Greek, Flory, Moline), and the Agnus Dei (Lamb of God), all reflecting their medieval military-monastic roles, distinct from Masonic appendant orders.

Membership requirements for non-Masonic Knights Templar a profession of the Christian faith, good moral character, and a commitment to charity and service. Unlike their Masonic counterparts, we are open to both men and women.
Common Membership Prerequisites
- Professed Christian Faith: This is a universal and fundamental requirement to the order. Applicants must be baptized Christians and accept Jesus Christ as the Son of God.
- Age Requirement: Applicants to be a minimum age, typically 18 years old, preferring candidates to be 30 years or older for full Knighthood/Damehood.
- Good Moral Character: A high standard of ethics and reputation is expected. A background check is a standard part of the application process, and felony criminal convictions are typically disqualifying.
- Commitment to Service and Charity: Prospective members should have a desire to glorify God through service, charity, and fighting social distress. This often involves a substantive commitment to voluntary work in the ministries and supporting the order’s activities with time, talent, or financial means.
